HOTFIX (Japanese: ホットフィックス, Hottofikkusu) is the special security force employed in Mindhacking facilities. It is meant to protect Mindhackers while they directly confront evildoers.

Formation

The HOTFIX team consists of 10 regular guards, a vice-captain and a captain. In totaL, HOTFIX has 15 members, with 3 extra because replacements often happen within the team[1].

Among the main cast, Captain and Newbie Guard are members of the team. Captain is, like their status suggests, the head of the team, while Newbie just came in to fill a vacant place after another guard's death. Experienced Guard, a supporting character, works these as well.

Multiple other team members were revealed in the Ganbare! HOTFIX spin-off, and it is unknown if they will make an in-game appearance:

  • Gishu, a supporting guard able to craft inventions for training;
  • Higeniki, one of the team's seniors;
  • Bou, a team veteran.

Two HOTFIX members are supposed to overlook Mindhacks in Debug rooms.

HOTFIX members will also be assigned reformation targets to look after. As an example, Newbie Guard is in charge of Unid, and Experienced Guard takes care of Yamamura. The guards are supposed to file reports on their reformation targets, bring them food and educate them[2][3].

Symbol mark

The current HOTFIX symbol is an upside-down triangle sliced three times. It symbolizes the team eradicating BUGs in the Mindhacking facility. The symbol is featured on Captain's arm shields and on the regular guards' helmets.

The current symbol was established when the team became a security force. Before that, the logo showed white lightning piercing the triangle instead, evoking a more aggressive image[4]. The old logo is most notably present on SINO's cowl and on COM_Z's arms.

Trivia

  • In programming, a 'hotfix' is an action undertaken to quickly correct a bug. Hotfixes bypass the usual software development process and are released to deal with high-priority bugs.
  • It was said that Doctor cannot distinguish anyone in the team besides the captain[5].
