Yamamura Kosuke (Japanese: コウスケ·ヤマムラ, Kōsuke Yamamura), also known as Ivrig (イーヴリッグ, Īvuriggu), is one of Doctor's patients, making his first appearance in Chapter 2. He is a college student who believes in LAGOM.

Appearance

The most peculiar thing about Yamamura's appearance is the aluminium box on his head. It was said to be welded from the inside so as not to be removed.

Yamamura has a yellowish skin tone, with dark brown spots on his fingers. His hair is the same colour and is normally gathered in a low ponytail. He also grows fur, which he often clippers. In addition, he has claws and a deer-like tail.

He wears plain clothes with the signature haori of a LAGOM believer on top. The developers aimed to make Yamamura's clothes look ordinary, with Realkey saying they should look like "something put on a mannequin".

Personality

Yamamura is a religious fanatic who believes in the God of storage, LAGOM. Due to this he strived to become an inorganic being worthy of being stored inside God's house. He was zealously training every day and spreading word of his God even to people he has never met before. He has a habit of speaking with great exaggeration and arrogance, looking down on people who don't follow his religion. It was shown that he holds onto grudges easily when his beliefs, or self-views, are challenged, such as when he got angry at his classmates for refusing to listen to his beliefs, or when he gets annoyed once called "Yamamura" instead of "Ivrig".

Yamamura was shown to have low self-esteem before joining LAGOM, likely because of his upbringing. He wished to be seen for what he is, without being constantly compared to his sister Miki. His self-esteem problems led to him getting deceived by a flattering scammer on a message board. This also could've happened because he trusts others too easily.

Story

Before game events

Yamamura was born in a very snowy area in and resided in an unknown village, said to have one of the highest snowfalls in the country. He lived together with his sister Miki and their parents before moving to the city for university and to meet a scammer he met on an online forum. Yamamura mentions he's a very timid person, not being able to socialise very well and that Miki was more sociable. Due to being compared to Miki so often, he does so as well even though he hates it. He had a bad habit of clinging to concepts that would provide validation in some way as he mentions he wasn't provided much of it during childhood. Yamamura claims to be hardworking and it shows through his constant preaching of the LAGOM God and his determination to get into college for the online scammer.

In Chapter 2, before and even during being hacked by the Doctor, Yamamura showed little confidence in their hacking ability. He believed that he was chosen by LAGOM to store away the FATAL ERROR and saw himself as "insect-proof".

Unfortunately, Yamamura was the first character to feel the destructive side-effects of the Doctor's BUG as they jeopardized his hack at the very end by tearing off some of the flower's petals. Just after the hack, Yamamura was severely mentally unstable, calling out for his sister Miki, repeating her name and screaming for help. After Doctor disconnected from his mind, Yamamura shifted to lie on the chair while visibly shaking and crying. After he had been taken away, Newbie Guard said that he was sprawled out on the floor of the infirmary.

In Chapter 4, Ivrig makes a reappearance when his family comes to pick him up, seemingly fixed. While he does appear as happy-go-lucky, Yamamura's speech is broken and he acts generally off-putting. He is very self-depreciative, blaming himself for being a bad brother to Miki and a barbaric person before being Mindhacked.
