Unid (Japanese: ユーニッド, Yūniddo), also known as Black Sunshine (ブラックサンシャイン, Burakkusanshain), is one of Doctor's patients and his first one in-game, making his first appearance in Chapter 1. He was the leader of a notorious street gang Bloody Paella.

Appearance

Unid's body is that of an average male.

His skin color has a dark-grayish tone, and he has a circular head with large, thick spikes poking out similar to that of a star. He wears a white shirt with a large clover pattern.

Unid appears as an anthropomorphized sea urchin. He has two slightly contracting forms in the game one. In both appearances he has one large orange eye in the center of his head, seven spikes that surround the head, the very bottom of a neck that does not connect to his head making it float. He wears two rings on his left arm and three earrings (slightly different between variations) one red on his right spike and a yellow and blue one on his left spike.

Biography

Unid's parents are unknown. However, they were briefly mentioned in Unid's memory that his parents could possibly be sea urchins.

He grew up living in an institution. However, his living conditions were poor as he faced physical abuse and beatings from the institution's matron. Implied by what Unid said, he was forced to eat everything during meal times, even if it tasted awful, in fear of punishment from the matron. There was one incident where Unid was physically hit by a peer's elbow during their meal time, knocking the tray of coleslaw he was carrying. The matron noticed the incident and punched Unid, shoved him to the table, and demanded him to pick everything he spilled up by hand. Despite being in a large presence of kids, no one offered him any help due to the widespread fear of the matron. Feeling humiliated and pathetic, Unid claims that once he grows his spikes, he will physically skewer the matron and get stronger and better than anyone else. Before leaving the institution, the matron gave Unid a sea slug stuffed toy so that he wouldn't feel lonely. Shortly after, he threw it away.

A few years later, during his time with his gang destroying bikes, an ongoing car nearly hit the gang and abruptly swerved to avoid them before getting flipped. Unid originally wanted to help the victim, but discovered that the driver in question was the matron herself. After feeling immensely satisfied upon discovery, Unid gloated by telling her "serves you fucking right" before riding off. Shortly after, the car exploded due to a gas leak, and it is assumed that the matron is dead.

Unid felt victorious after experiencing his abuser die, but felt guilty after seeing the fire from the car accident take more lives.

• He likes eating cabbage but dislikes coleslaw. He described it as "worse than eating rotten algae".
• Post-hack Unid was affectionately nicknamed Hanauni (花ウニ) by the developers. The name literally translates to "flower sea urchin".
